About Me

Hi! I’m Jillian, and I’m an aspiring technical communication professional.

I’m currently pursuing my M.A. in professional & technical communication at the University of North Texas. I completed my B.S. in the same field of study in 2022, and I will earn my M.A. in the fall of 2023. I currently work as a Technical Training Designer at Paycom, where my primary tasks include the following:

• Onboarding and administering technical training to up to 30 new software developer hires every week
• Updating and maintaining training paths and courses in our learning management system (LMS)
• Collaborating with subject matter experts to create clear, informative scripts for learning content
• Editing video footage, generating accurate closed captions and ensuring content archive is properly organized, labeled, and tagged with metadata

Prior to accepting this role, I worked for three years as a Graduate Writing Tutor at the University of North Texas in the Department of Technical Communication. In this role, I supported technical communication students by hosting one-on-one consultations to review their current progress, brainstorm ideas, and offer feedback. I also developed and delivered a series of presentation workshops covering individual projects as well as writing strategies.
